Throughout this session I was able to find new technology tools that can be used in the classroom. One tool that stood out was from 100 Helpful Tools for Every Kind of User . Clipmarks is designed to help students through the research process. They can actually look at a website an highlight information and pictures that they will want to use. The information can then be transferred to their email or be saved. This cuts down on students needs to go back and forth between tabs or websites.
The History and politics website (History and Politics Out Loud) allows me to search speeches and other historical information which can be presented in an auto format. As my students currently are studying World War II, FDR's fireside chats will come in hand as well as Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech.
Another tool that I would like to try in the classroom is LibriVox which provides access to audio books and if you cannot find the book, the great part is that you can actually record it. That is if you have time to do it. This will be helpful in classrooms were I want students to examine components from books throughout American history such as the "Wizard of Oz" where they can make political connections to the Gilded Age. This site enables them to have access to the book without having to read it themselves.
